About this contest

This contest is a unique fundraiser that will help challenged adults get off of medicaid and become tax paying citizens. This contest should raise $200,000 per year for FORSYTH AREA SPORTS TEAMS, Inc. (FAST) which is doing business as NATIONAL INDEPENDENT CENTERS for EXCELLENCE, Inc. (NICE). Currently the first center at 2645 Pilgrim Mill Circle, Cumming GA, is under construction. (scroll down on the home page to see it).

Challenged adults will operate a fitness club, and will also live on the top floor. Normal revenue will be from the members of the fitness club. Revenue from this contest will provide the completion of the funding for this project.

Sailing and scuba diving are two sports that will be offered at this fitness club. This contest will ensure that an exciting program of varied sports will attract members and make this business successful. Once succesful, more centers will opened in other communities to serve challenged adults and to remove them from the limitations of government controlled medicad services by allowing these adults to earn a reasonable wage that will allow them a higher standard of living than what medicaid provides.

It is estimated that a net profit of $400 will be made from every spot sold or raffled at $2000. Since 500 spots will be sold, a net profit of $200,000 should be earned by this contest. This event will be repeated every year to ensure a continued funding of NICE as it strives to serve mentally or physically challenged adults across the country.

About the value

The $1,500 price per person is an approximate industry average for crewed catamarans that are close to 50' long and that sleep 10. We will supply all your sailing instruction, scuba instruction and any equipment that you will need. You will also be able to sleep onboard with no additional cost. To compare prices search on the internet using the terms catamaran, bareboat, BVI and find one that sleeps 10 or more. This should be a boat in the 50' range. Add up all the extras, such as crew, instruction, scuba equipment and compare that price split 10 ways to our $1,500 price. They should be close, make sure you add up the extras.
